The Evolve open beta is coming exclusively to Xbox One next month

When 2K Games lets invited players try it out To develop as part of the “Big Alpha” event a few months ago, those players were able to try out the game on the Xbox One, PS4 or PC. When the publisher opens the game up for a public beta test next month, only Xbox One players will be able to take part in the full scope of the action.

2K Games today announced that the Xbox One Open Beta will be open to anyone with an Xbox Live Gold account from January 15 through January 19. The beta includes new playable characters, monsters, and maps in the previously shown 4-hunters-vs-1-monster Hunt mode, and will also introduce a new “Evacuation” campaign mode starting January 17 that mixes different types of gameplay in a series of five rounds. Progress from the beta carries over into the game’s full release, now expected on February 10, after the original October launch was postponed earlier this year.

On PC and PS4, access is limited to “smaller closed technical tests” available to those who have already taken part in the Big Alpha, as well as players who own Left 4 Dead 2 or Bioshock infinite on PC. These tests are limited to Hunt mode and will not allow players to carry progress into the final release. These launch on January 16 on PC and January 17 on PS4.

In addition to the beta, 2K was also discussed To develop‘s offline, single-player gameplay modes for the first time. Offline play includes “every character, map, and mode in To developand allow players to control the unique monster or hot-swap between the team of four fighters. These features will not be available in the beta test, but they will be included in the full release in February.
