It’s the most wonderful time of the year for PC gamers looking for deals on cheap software. Well, probably the second best, if you factor in the annual Steam Summer Sale. Either way, it’s still a great time to get discounted games through Steam’s annual Christmas sale, which runs through January 2 today.
As in years past, this year’s sale includes a handful of “featured” daily discounts, updated every 12 hours with new offers, as well as daily “community choice” votes on which of a select few games will go on sale next, and thousands of titles whose prices have just been reduced for the duration of the event. Among the more intriguing deals featured right now: Dark Souls II for a very reasonable $14.79, State of decomposition for a cheap $4.99, and Speed runners for a bargain basement $2.49.
SteamDB has a great rundown of everything that’s dropped in price during the sale so far, including some games with discounts of up to 98 percent! Remember, if history is any guide, some games on sale today may drop in price even further on the last day of the sale, so you might want to wait if the current deal doesn’t seem too hot.
This year’s Christmas sale follows a new kind of holiday discount in the form of the Steam Exploration Sale, which recommends lower priced games based on algorithmically suggested games.
