It’s not a Rick & Morty episode without more than one Rick in the same shot.

Morty is having trouble with what Summer is going to do.
A whole day Rick and Morty-related teases and jokes on Twitter ended with a fun April Fool’s surprise from Adult Swim on Saturday: the complete first episode of the animated series’ upcoming third season. As of press time, it’s been played over and over on Adult Swim’s default live streaming site. (Update: Readers note that it will also air tonight on the Adult Swim/Cartoon Network TV version, although channel guides have mis-advertised the listing.)
Like the second season premiere, this episode is built to resolve the previous season’s cliffhanger arc, and that can make it a confusing episode for anyone unfamiliar with the show. (If you’ve never seen the frenzied sci-fi cartoon series, head over to Hulu to binge, post-rush.) Series fans, on the other hand, can look forward to a nice mix of in-depth reveals and out-of-the-art—no kidding anywhere .
You’ll probably end up on the video stream mid-episode. I think that’s a great way to start looking; like most good ones Rick and Morty episodes, this one is packed with enough rapid-fire content to be rewarding on a second watch. Szechuan sauce, Nathan Fillion and “the darkest year of our adventures” are waiting for you. Adult Swim has announced that the third season will formally premiere “this summer.”
Update: The stream has since been replaced by this stream of every episode ever from the full series, though it’s unclear how long that will last.
