British-made thriller/sci-fi Kill command opens May 13 in UK cinemas, iTunes and the Sky Store – and to celebrate the imminent arrival of our robot overlords, we’ve got a robot arm and rover to give away.
Kill command, as you can probably tell from the title, is ostensibly a movie about killer robots. However, judging by the trailer, it looks like the movie is about it, too Matrixlike themes, with the protagonist (played by Vanessa Kirby) perhaps crossing the divide between human and robot as some sort of neo-ish character.
To participate in the giveaway, all you need to do is complete the survey. At this point, you only need to provide an email address; if you win, we will contact you to get your mailing address. Unfortunately, the giveaway is only open to people in the UK.
We’re giving away two robots, both provided by RobotShop. Here are some technical details:
First prize: Lynxmotion AL5D PLTW robotic arm kit, with FlowArm PLTW app (price ~ £300). This is a fairly complicated piece of kit that you have to put together and then operate via a PC USB interface. It comes with a license for FlowArm, a graphical software interface for manipulating the arm.
Second Prize: DFRobotShop Rover V2 Arduino Compatible Crawler Robot (Price ~ £75). This comes with an Arduino Uno and apparently requires no soldering. It should be pretty easy to use the Arduino IDE to get the rover rolling around. The robot is versatile enough for various electronic and mechanical accessories: buy some light sensors and maybe you can give it the ability to dodge obstacles! It would probably be a good starter kit for people wanting to get into robotics.
Join the giveaway. The giveaway closes at the end of May 18.
I have one last request: if you win the giveaway, please don’t teach your new robotic arm how to crush a human’s skull.
